Literacy Night in Dennis-Yarmouth! #CapeCod #Author Event #Books #Barnstable

Forbidden First Love and Supernatural
Secrets in DIVINE FALL
I'm excited to be a part of the upcoming celebration of reading at the Dennis-Yarmouth High School this weekend!  Discover New Worlds at the Library will take place on Friday evening, March 29th, from 5 - 7 pm.  This is a free event open to all ages and communities, and the theme of the night is Sci-Fi and Outer Space (costumes optional!).

I will be part of the Author Panel, answering questions and signing books.  While my books aren't considered Science Fiction, I do home my stories take readers to new worlds...including some supernatural worlds, as most of my novels have paranormal elements.  Since this is a school-sponsored event, I'll be highlighting my Young Adult novel, DIVINE FALL, which is an award-winning Paranormal Romance featuring revenge, romance, and a rogue fallen angel.  If you've never heard of the half-human, half angel Nephilim, check out the book's blurb below!

Some of the other exhibits and guests!
I'm excited to see some of my Cape author friends at this event - at the table with me will be K.R. Conway, author of the Urban Fantasy series UNDERTOW, Mick Carlon, author of GIRL SINGER and other books featuring history and music, and Jim Hill, author of an upcoming graphic novel.  So there will be plenty of new worlds to visit, both fictional and real!

Join us from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at the Dennis Yarmouth High School, 210 Station Ave., South Yarmouth.

If you're nowhere near Cape Cod, you can still check out the titles by following the links!  DIVINE FALL is available on Kindle, Nook, and iTunes for only 99 cents!  Check out the blurb below, and hope to see Cape Codders on Friday night!

After tragedy tears Jamie Brandt’s life apart, her only goal is to finish high school so she can leave her small hometown behind.  In the meantime, riding her horse is her main source of solace, until a mysterious stable hand shows up at the barn.  There’s something not quite right about the handsome new employee, and the more Jamie sees of him, the more determined she becomes to figure out what he’s hiding.
Dothan Reed came to historic Huntsville, Maryland, for one reason—revenge.  But his plan can’t move forward until he finds the missing piece he needs to enhance his powers.  As the only surviving Nephilim, Dothan is not only weaker than full-blooded angels; his forbidden lineage makes him an outcast in both worlds.  When he discovers Jamie is the key to locating an ancient weapon, he’s forced to interact with a vulnerable human girl—a task that becomes more appealing with each encounter.

Jamie soon learns Dothan isn’t the only one with a dark secret.  Each new revelation further threatens her safety, and Dothan’s betrayal shatters her heart.  Forgiving him seems impossible, but the thought of turning her back on him is equally painful.

As their connection deepens, Dothan will have to make his own difficult choice: continue on his path of vengeance, or protect the girl he loves.  And when Dothan’s actions thrust Jamie into an unforeseen danger, he must seek the help of his enemy…or risk losing her forever.

I'll be chatting with readers and signing books this Thursday evening from 6 - 7:30 p.m. at the Jonathan Bourne Library, located at 19 Sandwich Rd. in Bourne, along with several other authors who write Young Adult novels (many of us, including myself, also write books that are not YA, and we'll bring some of those too!)  There's still time download the selected "Beach Buddy Books" for FREE as well, if you'd like to register, but it's not required, and you can also pick up signed print copies that night!  An ideal event for aspiring authors of all ages as well as for adult and teen readers.  For more info on the specific books selected for the library's summer reading, see below!

I'm thrilled to share that my Young Adult Paranormal Romance, DIVINE FALL, is one of four novels being offered for FREE summer reading as part of the Jonathan Bourne Library's "Beach Buddy Book Club".  Cape Cod-area teens can register at Bourne Library's website and receive codes to download electronic copies of any (or all) of the four titles: Divine FallUndertowDescent, and Any Way You Slice It.  Then choose a buddy or two to read along with--friend, parent, cousin, sibling, etc.--and enjoy the stories together!  Plus, you can also meet the authors and ask questions or chat about characters on Thursday, August 2nd at the Bourne Library from 6-7:30 pm.

Pre-orders are up! Steamy Second-Chance #Romance + Suspense ~ New Release #Books

My fifth novel, Dangerous Currents, is almost here!  Pre-orders are live for all formats except print, and if you order now, it will hit your Kindle/Nook/iPad on Thursday!  Dangerous Currents is a second-chance romance with plenty of suspense, but no ghosts--a bit of a departure from my other novels that involve some paranormal elements.  This release date is especially meaningful to me, because I struggled with writer's block for a while after my father was diagnosed with cancer and passed away five months later in April of 2017.  I desperately wanted to finish Malorie and Dean's story, but the emotional turmoil made it impossible to write even a single sentence for months.  So to have this novel about to finally release feels like a victory!  Check out the blurb below, as well as the cover, done by the talented author and graphic designer K.R. Conway.  And the first rating has just hit Goodreads--5 stars--I can't wait to see the review when release day hits!

No ghosts in this one, but plenty of dark secrets, danger,
and of course, steamy romance!
Grab your copy on Pre-order!

When a costly mistake ends Malorie Montgomery’s career, she returns to Cape Cod in search of a fresh start.  But her plans for a new—and quiet—life are quickly derailed when she makes a grisly discovery in the woods, and her screams bring the one person from her past she’d hoped to avoid.  Dean Slater, the ex-boyfriend who broke her heart in high school, now lives in the beachfront community that was supposed to be her haven…and he’s just as hot as he was six years ago.

With his rough background, Dean always knew he wasn’t good enough for the kind, intelligent beauty who claimed his heart, but somehow he’d believed their love was strong enough to survive anything—until the tragic night she turned her back on him when he needed her trust the most.  Despite their painful history, Dean can’t resist the instinct to protect her, especially when it becomes apparent there’s a killer in their town.

Their former chemistry soon reignites, but Malorie has long accepted that her dark family secret has destined her to a life alone.  And when she uncovers evidence that makes her the killer’s target, a deadly confrontation threatens to destroy any possibility of a second chance.

Preorder Dangerous Currents to hit your Kindle, Nook, or iPad on May 3rd!  Print paperbacks will be available in May as well.

Cover Reveal! Dangerous Currents #book #coverreveal #RomanticSuspense

Who doesn't love a cover reveal?  Seeing the artistic creation that will be the "face" of months (in this case, years) of hard work is an unbelievable feeling!  Unless the author isn't happy with the cover, something that has certainly happened to a few of my author friends, and it's devastating.  Thankfully, I've really loved all of mine, and this one is no exception.  My fifth novel, Dangerous Currents, is a second-chance romance with plenty of suspense, although not what most people think of when they think of the genre "Romantic Suspense", which is why I'm going to try to clarify.  It's pretty much the same thing I've been going through with most of my other novels for years--Silver Lake, Gull Harbor, and Haunted Souls often get classified as Paranormal Romance, for lack of a better term, but they don't fit the traditional description, since these three books are a mix of romance and a ghost mystery rather than a main character being a supernatural being.  But, I digress...here we go, what do you think?  Blurb and Pre-order links are below the cover, done by the talented author and graphic designer K.R. Conway.

I'm Joining #Book Fairies on #BookLoversDay! #IBelieveinBookFairies

I'm so excited to get involved in this new (well, new to me!) project: The Book Fairies "hide books around the world for people to find, read, and then leave for the next person" - such a great way to share a love of reading and connect people throughout the world with each other and new books to discover!

Books donated by the Author Panel novelists,
getting ready to get shipped to Book Fairies!

I heard about this program via my author friend K.R. Conway, another local Cape Cod author with whom I've done a number of events (most recently the Author Panel on Cape Cod Author Night following the 2017 Teen Writers Conference).  There were 12 Authors there, and we all agreed to donate some of our books to go out together, in packages, to volunteers K.R. has lined up around the U.S. and even the world!  They will be our book fairies, hiding the various books around their towns and leaving clues via social media to help interested readers find them!

I've donated 5 books so far, can't wait to see where they go!

Authors and Readers, check out the website if you'd like to get involved: The Book Fairies.  And spread the word!  The hashtag is #IBelieveinBookFairies, and you can also find the official social media accounts associated with your part of the world here.

Happy Book Lovers Day!

I blogged a few weeks ago about the 2017 Cape Cod Teen Writers Conference, and I'm happy to announce that registration is full...it's going to be a great week!  And I'm excited to be part of the panel of YA Authors coming together Friday evening to share our experiences in writing and publishing, discuss our books, and answer questions.  We'll all have books for sale--signed and personalized for readers, of course--as well as plenty of swag!

Since it's a YA Panel, I'll be highlighting my Young Adult novel, DIVINE FALL, a paranormal romance filled with forbidden first love and supernatural secrets.  But I'll also have my other titles available for purchase as well, as we expect readers and writers of all ages to attend.  And the best part?  It's free!  So come meet 12 YA Authors and find some new characters to spend time with this summer!

The first annual Cape Cod Teen Writers Conference is coming up!  Aspiring young writers can sign up this year for FREE, thanks to the generosity of Marstons Mills library, Barnstable Public Schools, and Titcomb's Bookshop, and organized by my friend and local author (and instructor) K.R. On the final day, a YA Author Panel is scheduled for the evening, with 11 authors of Young Adult novels answering questions, signing books, and chatting with attendees...and this is open to ALL age groups, again for free.  I'm thrilled to be part of the panel, and I'll have copies of my YA Paranormal Romance DIVINE FALL, winner of The Romance Review's 2015 Readers' Choice Award in YA Romance, as well as one of the five Finalists for the coveted Reader's Crown Award from RomCon in 2015.  My other titles, which have older protagonists and combine steamy romance with ghost mysteries, will also be available for signing and purchase.

Multi-Author #Book Signing! #Hyannis Harbor #CapeCod

Me, Katie, & Kate (K.R.) ~ 3 Ks get confusing!
We're gearing up for another weekend-long book signing! I’ll be signing books all weekend at the Hyannis Artist Shanties at Hyannis Harbor with two other Cape Cod authors, Katie O’Sullivan and K.R. Conway.  Between the three of us, we have a dozen titles for adults and teens, in genres including romance, paranormal suspense, urban fantasy, and young adult.  So if you’re in the Cape Cod area, stop by to grab some new summer reads!  We’ll be there in our shanty on Ocean Street (across from The Black Cat Restaurant) from 11 am – 8 pm on Friday, June 9, Saturday June 10, and Sunday, June 11.

The Artist Shanties are a group of cute little stand-alone “studios” right along the water.  Offerings vary by weekend, and all items available are handmade or handcrafted by the artist.  The site has a link to all the artists and their work, along with the dates they’ll be there.

We had a blast last year and we're looking forward to another fun weekend! Many of our books are set on Cape Cod, including my latest release, Haunted Souls, a steamy romance mixed with a ghost mystery, set in historic Barnstable Village.  In fact, the Old Jail House on Rt. 6A, considered actively haunted, served as the initial inspiration for the story.

My other romance/ghost story set on Cape Cod is Gull Harbor, which has been a #1 Kindle Bestseller on several occasions.  While Gull Harbor is a fictional town, I based it on Wellfleet, a beautiful area with kettle ponds and a coast line that's part of the Cape Cod National Seashore.

If you're in the area, come by and visit us, and check out all the literary and artistic creations offered by Cape Cod locals!
