Top #Book of 2019 ~ My 2nd Award arrived! #amreading #paranormal #romance #writerslife #amwriting

A few months ago, I received my first physical writing trophy in the mail...a beautiful solid glass book for winning first place in InD'Tale Magazine's RONE Awards, engraved with my name and The Haunting of Hillwood Farm, my latest ghost mystery/romantic suspense.  Last week, I was thrilled to open an envelope with my second physical award for this title...an award and medal for placing as a Top Read of 2019 at Read Free.ly.  The Haunting of Hillwood Farm actually came in at #2 out of 50 titles...which is an amazing feeling and also the exact same spot that Haunted Souls claimed in the 2016 awards!

And now the #2 Top Read of 2019 at Read Freely!  Woot!

I'm over the moon that The Haunting of Hillwood Farm has resonated with readers and reviewers!  I truly hope my upcoming 2020 release Ghost Moon will also be well-received...stay tuned for the *gorgeous* cover reveal and ARC and pre-order info!

When I started this journey in 2008, I barely dreamed I could get my first novel, Silver Lake, published, much less create six more novels and hit the Bestseller lists at USA TODAY, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble!  It's been a wild ride filled with both joy and tears.  But in the end, my true goal is to provide entertainment.  Reading is not only my favorite pastime, it has gotten me through some of the worst times of my life.  I find I simply can't think about other things if I'm truly absorbed in a page-turning story, and it's a welcome escape from the stresses--and worse--of life.  If I provide readers with a story that pulls them in and gives them hours of relaxation and enjoyment, I've done my job!

Thanks for coming by for my celebration, and please check back for news on Ghost Moon...or subscribe to my newsletter over on the right side of this page.  I send out news about twice a month, and I love to meet new readers!

Vote for the 50 Best #Indie #Books of 2019! #amreading #amwriting #writerslife

A dangerous ghost brings them together...
but will they survive long enough
to find happiness?
Each year, Read Freely accepts nominations for their 50 Best Small Press and Indie Books competition, and from all the initial nominations, the list is whittled down to a short list of finalists.  I’m thrilled to announce The Haunting of Hillwood Farm made the list in the Paranormal category!  This is a romantic suspense/ghost mystery set on Cape Cod (and on sale for 99c at the moment!)  I’m hoping voters will consider voting for my book in the Paranormal category along with their other choices—you get 2 votes per category—and help small and indie authors gain more visibility for their books!  Voting is easy, and while an email address is required to keep people from voting multiple times, it is a very safe site (I've been a member for years...I like to find out about new books too!)

Please take a minute to check out the short list titles (and maybe find some new reads!) and vote for your choices, and thank you for coming by :)

The Haunting of Hillwood Farm can be found in the Paranormal Category

Voting's Open! Dangerous Currents up for #Book of the Month! #amwriting #romance #suspense #amreading

One fateful night tore them apart...
will they get a second chance
before a killer strikes?
I'm thrilled that my Romantic Suspense, Dangerous Currents, is one of six books chosen for February's Book of the Month shortlist at Read Free.ly.  Voting is open for the next week and I'd love if you could take a moment to show some love to Dangerous Currents!

Link to vote is here:  Read Free.ly's Book of the Month

An email is required to vote, so no one can vote twice, but the site is very safe and reputable (and if you're an author, you should be taking advantage of their free and low-cost promotional services!).  In fact, my ghost mystery/romance Haunted Souls made it to their best books of the year in 2016 and came in second, out of 100 finalists!  Every time one of my novels is on sale, I make sure I visit their site to enter the sale info...and it's free!

N.N. Light's Book Heaven on Dangerous Currents

HUGE, heartfelt thanks to anyone who can take a sec to check out Dangerous Currents and the other books and cast a vote for the one they'd like to see featured.  Happy Reading!

If you enjoy second chance romance filled with secrets and suspense,
check out Dean and Malorie's story in Dangerous Currents!

De-stress w/ a new read for #Thanksgiving! #Ghosts #Romance #Books #Kindle

My happy place!
The holidays are upon us! Thanksgiving is almost here, and whether you're traveling or cooking, you need to find some time to relax during what can be a hectic month.  My favorite stress-reliever is reading, and right now I'm caught up in a page-turning Psychological Suspense that I can't put down...which is a bit of a problem, since I'm hosting Thanksgiving dinner for the very first time, and my guests begin arriving tomorrow!  If you'd like an entertaining escape, try one of my #1 Kindle Bestsellers, full of steamy romance and spooky suspense.  Load up your Kindle or Nook now, and then while you're traveling, waiting in lines, or trying to carve out a few moments for yourself, you can transport yourself to Cape Cod's Gull Harbor, where a dangerous ghost and an ex-boyfriend await psychic medium Claire Linden.  Links and blurb below!  Happy Thanksgiving :)

GULL HARBOR
A #1 Kindle Bestseller

Want to see the story board?  Check out the pictures I used for inspiration on Pinterest!

When Claire Linden’s job sends her to the sleepy town of Gull Harbor, she never expects to encounter her ex-boyfriend. As a medium, the prospect of tackling a haunted house is less daunting than seeing Max Baron again. Throughout their passionate college relationship, he promised to love her forever. Then, without explanation, he abandoned her on graduation day.

Max never intended to break Claire's heart—a cruel ultimatum forced him to disappear from her life. While he's shocked to find her in Gull Harbor, he isn't surprised by the bitter resentment she feels for him...or the fiery attraction that remains between them.

Claire is determined to rid her temporary home of its aggressive ghost, but Max soon realizes she's facing a danger beyond the paranormal. When Claire risks everything to help a desperate spirit, Max must race to save her—before another tragedy tears them apart forever.

Gull Harbor tends to be a quick read, since it's exciting and fast-paced.  If you enjoy it and need some more new reads, try #1 Kindle Bestseller SILVER LAKE (A haunting, an old flame, and secrets from the past...) or my latest release, HAUNTED SOULS (Claire Linden from Gull Harbor makes a guest appearance in this novel, voted one of the Top 3 Reads of 2016 at Read Free.ly!)

HAUNTED SOULS in Still Moments Magazine #romance #ghosts

Always exciting to find your book featured in a publication!  Still Moments was a print magazine that is now an online "ezine", focused on highlighting romance novels along with interviews, reviews, articles, recipes, photos, etc.

I was thrilled to see my latest novel, a steamy romance mixed with a haunting mystery, was featured and reviewed in the July edition.  The reviewer called the scenes between Tyler, Emily and Brett's son, and the spirit in their home "captivating", and said the "details behind the mystery hold your attention".

Price Drop on #Kindle! #Romance + #Ghosts #FridayReads

Exciting news!  HAUNTED SOULS is now a year old this summer--hard to believe--and that makes it eligible for a price drop by my publisher!  The Kindle price is now $3.99, down from $5.99, a bargain for hours of entertainment.  This is a steamy romance with a ghost mystery subplot, set on Cape Cod and inspired by the (haunted) Old Jail in Barnstable Village.  Reviews have been fantastic, and this title came in second last year in Read Free.ly's Top Reads of 2016...out of 100 entries!

So grab a copy at the new lower price, put your feet up, and get pulled into a page-turning story, "packed with angst, turmoil, danger, and romance" (Splashes Into Books Reviews).  Happy Reading!

#HAUNTED SOULS made Top 3 Best #Books 2016! #amreading #amwriting

Earlier in the year, Read Freely, a website that highlights small-press and indie books, invited people to nominate their favorite titles for their annual "The 50 Best Indie Books" contest.  Titles had to meet the requirement of being published either by a small press outside the "Big 5" or be self-published, with a release date in 2016.  When the nominations closed, I was thrilled to hear my romance/ghost story Haunted Souls was one of 100 books to make the Finals round.  Voting then opened up for about three weeks in order to whittle that list down to the Top 50.

An exciting addition this year was the introduction of a cash prize for the Top 3 winners--something most authors would be especially grateful for this time of year!  So with the incentive of the honor of making the list, plus a monetary award, competition was bound to be fierce!  And it was--apparently, over 10,000 votes were cast, according to the site.

I did my best to make sure my readers knew about the contest and had the link information.  Thankfully, I have a Street Team that helps me spread news about my books online, and a number of wonderful friends active on social media who wanted to share the contest information as well. Family members sent emails to those who've read my books. For the past 20 years, I have worked at an all-women's gym, teaching classes, and many of the members have been supporting my writing journey since I began my first manuscript.  In addition, the owner is kind enough to allow me to sell my paperbacks at the gym, and I've done a number of books signings there as well.  Many of the members and employees who read my novels were eager to help by signing up to vote.

I picked up new readers as well along the way, which is one of the great things about these contests--your title lands on the radar of people who haven't heard of your book before as word spreads.  In fact, I found a new fan who took the time to email me about how much she enjoyed my latest novel and compare my work to her favorite romance authors: Julia Kent, Marie Force, Kristan Higgins and Jill Shalvis.  Quite an honor! That made my day.

The contest closed December 16, and the results trickled in day by day, starting with 50-41, then 40-31, etc.  Each day I both wanted to see my cover in the results and didn't want to see it...because if I didn't see it, maybe I made the next highest group.  Last night, before I could even check (okay, before I hit refresh for the hundredth time to see if the final 10 results had been posted), I got a text full of excited emojis from one of my friends, announcing I'd won $200.  If that was true, I knew I'd come in within the Top 3, in second place.  I sprinted to the computer to check, and it was there!  My book had come in at 2nd place in a competition that began with 100 books--very exciting!

Happy Dance!

Last but not at all least, a HUGE thank you to everyone who voted - we're all busy these days, especially with all the winter holidays, so I very much appreciate your taking the time to support me.  Thanks! xo
